About This Role

Provide professional nursing services in the Emergency Department, guided by the Transformation Model for the Professional Practice of Nursing. Responsible for coordinating patient care and influencing patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate clinical patient activities in the absence of Department Manager or Assistant Department Manager
  • Participate in shared decision making
  • Assess patient condition and initiate appropriate nursing and/or medical care in accordance with established guidelines and evidence-based practice
  • Develop and update an individualized plan of care based on the assessment of the patient in congruence with the medical diagnosis and treatment plan
  • Implement purposeful plan of care, reflecting the uniqueness of each patient
  • Evaluate patient outcomes and response to care, revising plan as needed
  • Document assessment, plan, all care given and patient response in the patient record
  • Educate patient/family according to assessed need using mutual participation model
  • Perform nursing activities in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures, Michigan Public Health Code and ANA Scope & Standards of Practice
  • Provide a safe environment for patient, family, and all other caregivers
  • Mentor, precept, and participate in peer review for the development of self and other Associates and students
  • Communicate appropriate significant information and changes in patient’s condition to members of the health care team
  • Delegate, direct and supervise implementation of care plan to LPN, PCT, or other health care workers

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university
  • Current Michigan license as a Registered Nurse
  • Clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills

Qualifications

  • Clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to deliver quality patient care.

Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire (Required) Crisis Prevention Intervention certification within 30 days of hire (Required) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association within 12 months of hire (Required) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association within 12 months of hire (Required) Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification issued by the Emergency Nurses’ Association within 12 months hire (Required) Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification issued by the Emergency Nurses’ Association within 12 months hire (Required)
