About This Role

This is an unlicensed healthcare worker position where you will perform delegated routine patient care tasks under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting. You will be accountable for delivering safe, compassionate, and quality care to patients and families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care tasks/duties delegated by the RN
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Perform transportation of patients and provide lifting support with appropriate equipment
  • Follow directions appropriately in emergency situations and report observations
  • Responsible for timely, accurate and concise EPIC documentation
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and hospital related information
  • Perform body system assessments under direct RN supervision and after skill validation
  • Perform urinary catheter insertion, irrigation, and removal under direct RN supervision and after skill validation
  • Perform skin/decubitus care under direct RN supervision and after skill validation
  • Perform nasogastric tube insertion, irrigation and removal under direct RN supervision and after skill validation
  • Perform tube feedings under direct RN supervision and after skill validation
  • Administer medication under direct RN supervision and after skill validation
  • Perform peripheral IV insertion under direct RN supervision and after skill validation
  • Initiate low flow oxygen therapy with nasal cannula and simple mask under direct RN supervision and after skill validation
  • Provide patient education about medications, procedures, plan of care, and discharge instructions
  • Use/apply devices such as Hoyer, Bladder scanner, SCDs, Restraints, and Traction
  • Perform specimen collection
  • Perform ostomy/wound care
  • Perform Oral/Tracheal suctioning/care
  • Set up/care for chest tubes
  • Perform Central Line dressing changes/discontinuation
  • Perform suture/staple removal

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Transcript of current enrollment in a nursing program
  • Nursing Student enrolled in Nursing School with projected graduation date of within one (1) year
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities, urgent responses, and challenging situations
  • Computer literacy

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency and enrollment in a nursing program with a projected graduation date within one year
  • None required
