This role involves supporting clinical services and staff within an adult psychiatric unit, focusing on patient care, nursing programs, and quality improvement. The individual will provide hands-on nursing, mentorship, and leadership to ensure high standards of care delivery.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction and support to unit staff
- Supervise admissions, assess patient needs, and initiate nursing care plans
- Facilitate planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit and organization
- Assist with development and implementation of policies and procedures
- Serve as a liaison between the manager, staff, and other areas within the organization
- Identify and resolve issues affecting delivery of patient care services in a unit
- Provide hands-on nursing support, coaching, mentoring, and education for the department nursing team
- Act as a catalyst for improving the quality and safety of patients and work at the point of care delivery to transfer knowledge and patient outcome management to the nursing care team
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility and act as a steward of organizational resources
- Work with team members and other leaders to develop and trend performance improvement indicators based on national standards and evidence-based practices
Requirements
- BSN
- Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
- Certified BLS Provider from AHA or American Red Cross obtained within 2 months of hire/transfer
