About This Role

The Risk Consultant develops, educates on, and implements safety, health, and risk control programs for member school districts. This role investigates serious incidents and provides broad risk control services, focusing on enhancing understanding and mitigation of risk factors.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments of school district facilities and investigate incidents to identify safety risks and provide mitigation recommendations
  • Create risk reduction plans with districts to enhance understanding of risk factors and reduce exposure
  • Develop and deliver risk reduction training programs (e.g., injury prevention, hazardous materials, fire safety)
  • Embody cultural principles and commitment to becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Organization
  • Maintain manual and electronic documents, files, and records for compliance and documentation
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and conferences for professional development and information gathering
  • Perform risk control activities (e.g., surveys, inspections, loss trending analysis)
  • Compile health, safety, and environmental statistics and data for compliance and reporting
  • Prepare written materials (e.g., newsletters, reports, presentations) for reporting district risk data
  • Provide risk management advice and recommendations to reduce injury and incident frequency and severity
  • Research federal and state laws, building codes, health codes, and other regulations for compliance
  • Utilize fleet vehicles for essential functions of the position

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Risk Management, or related field OR Associate’s degree in Business, Risk Management, or related field and 3+ years progressively responsible work-related experience OR high school diploma/GED or equivalent and 6+ years progressively responsible work-related experience
  • Experience providing safety and loss control services
  • Experience building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and business clients within a risk/carrier environment and/or business setting
  • Valid driver’s license & evidence of insurability
  • Knowledge of Washington State workers’ compensation risk management best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Risk Management, or related field; or an Associate’s degree in Business, Risk Management, or related field and 3+ years of progressively responsible work-related experience; or a high school diploma/GED or equivalent and 6+ years of progressively responsible work-related experience
  • 3+ years of progressively responsible work-related experience with an Associate's degree, or 6+ years with a high school diploma/GED. Experience in providing safety and loss control services, building customer relationships, persuading adoption of workplace risk management best practices, managing school district staff injury prevention initiatives, and fulfilling client stewardship activities.
