Lead an Infant/Toddler classroom unit, working collaboratively with other teachers to design and lead children's learning, document outcomes, and engage with families to maximize student outcomes and support home-school connections.
Responsibilities
- Act as a support to families for child guidance and development, advocating for parents, and encouraging parent involvement in the program
- Administer health screenings and developmental testing programs/assessments to identify needs and assess student development
- Assist children with hand washing, tooth brushing, diapering, etc. to model appropriate personal hygiene and meet standards
- Attend educational workshops, seminars, and in-service trainings to maintain professional knowledge
- Collaborate with families to optimize child development and enhance parenting skills
- Conduct home visits and conferences to provide information and resources to families and partner in educational planning
- Coordinate development of Individualized Educational Plans to ensure compliance and maximize child outcomes
- Coordinate and manage classroom preparation of teaching materials, planning, and routines
- Develop weekly curriculum plans with individualization for students in collaboration with the classroom team
- Engage in Active Supervision with focused attention and intentional observation of children to provide a safe learning environment
- Implement academic, behavior, developmental, health and nutrition plans to maximize student outcomes and encourage parent involvement
- Instruct children to optimize outcomes in accordance with School Readiness goals
- Maintain files and/or records for reference, cross-component communication, and audit trail compliance
- Maintain classroom equipment, work areas, and student files/records to ensure availability and a safe/sanitary environment
- Model conversation, respectful interaction, conflict resolution, and clean-up activities to demonstrate appropriate social behavior and support a positive classroom climate
- Organize and serve meals and snacks in compliance with USDA and HS regulations
- Participate in local and national evaluation activities for continuous program improvement
- Prepare reports to document family and child activities as described in the work plan
- Provide child guidance information and support to increase parent/family understanding of child development and school readiness
- Provide care to children to ensure a safe and healthy environment
- Reply to inquiries from a variety of sources to resolve issues, provide information, and/or referrals
- Respond to emergency situations to resolve immediate safety concerns or direct to appropriate personnel
- Serve as an active team member in interdisciplinary planning for children and families
- Supervise personnel by providing coaching and consultation on technical issues, personnel matters, and professional development
- Supervise Teachers and/or Teacher’s Aide for collaboration, training, and participation in planning and curriculum development
Requirements
- AA or higher in a related field with Infant toddler coursework OR Current Infant/Toddler CDA OR Current Preschool CDA credential with infant/toddler coursework OR ECE initial certificate with infant/toddler coursework
- 2 years of professional experience working with children 0-5
- Early childhood oversight experience in a childcare center, child development center, or preschool program
- Experience as a lead teacher in Head Start, Early Head Start, or other comprehensive child development/family support program
- Experience supervising early childhood classroom staff
- Experience working with children birth to 5 who are from diverse backgrounds
Qualifications
- AA or higher in a related field with Infant toddler coursework; OR Current Infant/Toddler CDA; OR Current Preschool CDA credential from the Council for Professional Recognition with infant/toddler coursework; OR ECE initial certificate with infant/toddler coursework
- 2 years of professional experience working with children 0-5
