Respiratory Therapist

About This Role

Assess patient respiratory needs, select and instruct on appropriate equipment, and provide clinical respiratory services to meet treatment plans and reduce hospital readmissions.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols.
• Assess the need of the patient/client and select the best equipment and/or services.
• Instruct patients/clients in the proper use and care of ordered equipment.
• Communicate with the patient's/client's physician on changes in condition and/or needs and adjust the Plan of Care/Treatment.
• Complete patient/client account paperwork, including Plan of Care/Treatment and assessments.
• Act as a liaison between the company and patients, families, caregivers, physicians, and other healthcare agencies.
• Conduct, participate, and attend educational meetings and seminars for healthcare workers, patients, and community members.
• Assist in resolving patient equipment problems of an immediate or 'emergency' nature.
• Assist with preventive maintenance, required service checks, and patient/environmental assessment of home respiratory equipment.
• Provide patients with Clinical Respiratory Services as ordered by physician including care planning, clinical assessments, discharge planning, patient/caregiver training, and therapy administration.
• Monitor respiratory supply levels and place orders to replenish stock.
• Assume on-call responsibilities during non-business hours.
• Develop technical knowledge of respiratory products/services and provide information to others upon request.
• Educate fellow company employees on the features and benefits of respiratory equipment, including safety features.
• Participate in educational and professional programs to maintain knowledge and competency.
• Maintain current licensure in all states where patient care will be provided.
• Market the company in a positive and professional manner.
