Respiratory Therapist Registered or Certified (PRN)

About This Role

This role involves the application of scientific principles to identify, prevent, remediate, research, and rehabilitate acute or chronic cardiopulmonary dysfunction. The Respiratory Therapist will evaluate patient respiratory status, develop care plans, and perform a variety of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Utilize scientific principles for identification, prevention, remediation, research, and rehabilitation of cardiopulmonary dysfunction
• Review existing data, collect additional data, and recommend obtaining data to evaluate respiratory status of patients
• Develop respiratory care plans and determine appropriateness of prescribed therapy
• Initiate, conduct, and modify prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic procedures (e.g., administering medical gases, aerosolized medications, postural drainage, CPR)
• Provide support services to mechanically ventilated patients
• Maintain artificial and natural airways
• Perform pulmonary function testing and other physiologic monitoring
• Collect specimens of blood and other materials
• Document necessary information in patient's medical record and communicate to healthcare team
• Obtain, assemble, calibrate, and check necessary equipment
• Use problem solving to identify and correct malfunctions of respiratory care equipment
• Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills to work productively with patients, families, staff, and co-workers
• Adhere to policy and procedure in Respiratory Therapy, EKG, and Pulmonary Departments
