This Resident Engineer role involves overseeing the construction of water and wastewater facilities in the Tri-State area, ensuring projects adhere to schedule, budget, safety, and quality standards. The position requires effective communication with various stakeholders including clients, designers, and contractors to mitigate risks and achieve project success.
Responsibilities
- Plan and develop construction projects for water and wastewater facilities
- Communicate with the project team and mitigate project risks to schedule, budget, safety, or quality
- Serve as the primary project interface with clients, designers, contractors, operation staff, and outside agencies/stakeholders
- Monitor construction contractor’s operations for conformance with approved construction documents
- Manage and report on project schedule and budget status
- Lead project meetings with engineers, contractors, clients, and stakeholders
- Conduct site meetings and coordinate field activities for testing and inspection reviews
- Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost control, schedule control, change management, risk management, and performance
- Conduct constructability reviews and reports of project designs prior to construction
- Establish cooperative partnerships between client, contractor, and stakeholders for timely issue resolution
- Demonstrate effective risk management and mitigation practices
- Establish project forecasts, schedule, financial reports, and prepare invoices
- Apprise senior leadership of all deviations from project baseline data
Requirements
- Substantial experience in construction management/resident engineering
- Fluent in written English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Knowledge and experience with construction scheduling
- Physical ability to move around an active construction site
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- Substantial years of experience in construction management/resident engineering experience
Nice to Have
- Experience with NYCDEP
- Working knowledge of E-Builder
- CCM certification
- Proficient with web based construction document management platforms
- Excellent team leader/player with exceptional interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of construction scheduling and document controls software
- Adept at interpersonal relationship building, conflict resolution, and participating in diverse teams
- Excellent oral and written communications, self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, and strong data analysis & technical problem-solving skills
