About This Role

Manage the infectious disease research lab under Dr. Pritha Sen at Brigham and Women's Hospital, focusing on single-cell and nuclei RNA sequencing protocols for human immunology studies. The role supports ongoing projects to understand viral immunity and immunopathogenesis in immunocompromised hosts.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and/or implement wet-bench single-cell and sequencing operations
  • Oversee supply inventory related to high-dimensional immunophenotyping and sequencing
  • Process clinical human blood and tissue specimens for single-cell and sequencing workflows
  • Participate in the design and modification of single-cell, sequencing, and immunophenotyping research protocols
  • Participate in the maintenance of specialized equipment for experimental workflows
  • Develop research methodologies within experimental protocols and research objectives
  • Perform data analysis using advanced statistical techniques
  • Contribute to writing sections of research reports and manuscripts
  • Oversee and coordinate all lab activities, including quality assurance and scheduling
  • Troubleshoot problems and instruct others in highly specialized techniques

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an academic and/or laboratory research setting
  • Minimum 1 year of experience executing emulsion-based single-cell/nuclei library generation and next-generation sequencing workflows
  • Highly organized, meticulous, and rigorous in wet bench experimental protocols
  • Ability to make independent decisions
  • Aptitude for technical problem solving
  • Ability to effectively supervise others
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong budget and management skills
  • Excellent judgement and ability to interpret information
  • Interest and comfort with working with human clinical specimens
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to record and analyze data using basic statistics
  • Ability to perform a variety of routine tests and prioritize work
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highest levels of professionalism

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required. Specialized training in genomics and or immunology would be considered favorably.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an academic and/or laboratory research setting AND at least 1 year of experience in executing emulsion-based single-cell/nuclei library generation and next-generation sequencing workflows.
