Registrar

About This Role

This role involves gathering and entering patient demographic and financial information into the hospital system, verifying benefits and obtaining authorizations, and collecting payments. The Registrar acts as the first point of contact for Virtua, providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Gather and enter patient demographic information into the hospital information system
• Verify patient benefits and obtain required authorizations
• Obtain co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, and deposit amounts from patients
• Perform accurate and thorough patient registrations
• Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines
• Act as the first contact representative of Virtua by providing excellent customer service
• Obtain copies of patient insurance cards and identification and enter demographic, financial, insurance and clinical information into the computer system
• Obtain signatures on all required documents for consent, medical necessity, and on required State, Federal and regulatory documentation
• Identify and provide appropriate referrals and payment options to patients needing financial assistance
• Provide additional office support including telephones, scheduling, typing, and filing

Requirements

• Must demonstrate a positive demeanor
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to handle potentially stressful situations and multiple tasks
• Basic typing, computer and/or word processing skills

Qualifications

• High School diploma
• 1 year customer service in a professional setting preferred. Medical office or admittance experience preferred.

Nice to Have

• 1 year customer service in a professional setting (excludes retail/food service)
• Medical office or admittance experience
• One year of Epic system experience
