Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the perioperative environment. This role involves critical care skills and judgment for diverse patient populations, alongside health education and team supervision.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and managing follow up care in the perioperative environment
- Perform acts requiring specialized knowledge, critical care skills and judgment in assessing health needs and in planning, administering and evaluating patient care for pediatric, adolescent and adult clients
- Provide health education and procedural teaching for clients and their families
- Supervise and guide other members of the health care team who contribute to the provision of patient care
- Maintain nursing records and meet documentation requirements in a computerized environment
- Participate in CI, continuing education and risk management programs to ensure a high level of patient care
Requirements
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current certification in BCLS or CPR, or proof of enrolment in a recertification course
- Critical Care course completed
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience as an RN supporting post anaesthesia or critical care patients within the past 3 years
- Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload
