About This Role

Provide direct patient care to medical-surgical patients following the nursing process. Monitor and communicate patient conditions and collaborate with the care team to coordinate patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice
  • Perform plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment
  • Document patient care given
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family
  • Assist patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation
  • Collaborate as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs
  • Evaluate learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances
  • Work as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient

Requirements

  • Associate's degree
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Decisive judgment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
  • Licensed Registered Nurse with the State of Tennessee or from a Compact State

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree required. BSN preferred.
