This Vocational Evaluation Specialist (VES) position provides direct support, consultation, and training to vocational evaluators within the Western Region of North Carolina. The role involves assessing the quality and effectiveness of vocational evaluation programs and individual evaluators, ensuring consistency in standards, and assisting with evaluations in evaluator vacancies.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support, consultation, and training to vocational evaluators in the Western Region of North Carolina
- Assess the quality and quantity of vocational evaluators' work through case reviews, providing feedback and training
- Assess the effectiveness of the vocational evaluation program within the region and make strategic improvements
- Collaborate with other Regional Evaluation Specialists to ensure consistency in evaluation policies, methods, and tools
- Collaborate with unit managers and supervisory staff on the vocational evaluator's performance
- Coordinate evaluation services in offices with evaluator vacancies
- Complete assessments in the absence of designated evaluators
Requirements
- Master’s degree in vocational evaluation, rehabilitation counseling, or closely related human services field and one year of experience in the vocational evaluation of individuals with disabilities
- OR Bachelor’s degree in vocational evaluation, rehabilitation counseling, or closely related human services from an appropriately accredited institution, current certification by a nationally recognized certifying body, and three years of progressive experience as a vocational evaluator
- OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in vocational evaluation, rehabilitation counseling, or closely related human services field, or Bachelor’s degree in one of these fields with current certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 year of experience in the vocational evaluation of individuals with disabilities (with Master's degree) or 3 years of progressive experience as a vocational evaluator (with Bachelor's degree and certification).
Nice to Have
- Experience and/or knowledge of mentoring, coaching, and training employees in vocational evaluation
- Knowledge of psychological, social, and special education concepts related to vocational abilities of individuals with disabilities
- Knowledge of evaluative tools, work samples, and job sampling techniques specific to vocational evaluation of individuals with disabilities
- Experience producing accurate written communications and detailed vocational evaluation reports
- Experience and/or knowledge of analyzing data and existing evaluative techniques to develop new methods
