About This Role

This role involves providing administrative support and customer service as a Receptionist for Optum Multi-Specialty, ensuring efficient patient flow and adherence to medical office protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain accurate and updated patient information, such as name, address and insurance information
  • Perform insurance verification on the date of service
  • Obtain patient signatures for required documents
  • File, Fax and maintain medical records
  • Confirm and schedule appointments
  • Answer incoming and outgoing telephone calls promptly and courteously
  • Follow Payment Security policy and procedures according to Optum Medical guidelines
  • Check In and Check Out patients
  • Perform referral documentation promptly
  • Provide effective communication to patient/family team members and other health care professionals
  • Demonstrate precision and efficiency in scanning documents and monitoring the fax server

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience
  • 1+ years of computer proficiency experience (multi-tasking through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word)
  • Ability to maintain work tasks in an efficient manner
  • Ability to travel to Manhattan practices if needed for coverage

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience and 1+ years of computer proficiency experience

Nice to Have

  • 1+ years of experience working in medical office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records
  • Experience working with an electronic health record (EPIC)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Cantonese or Mandarin and English
