The Quality Inspector is responsible for diligently inspecting and testing the dimensional, metallurgical, and appearance aspects of all parts to ensure they meet the plant's rigorous quality standards and goals.
Responsibilities
- Audit incoming materials, work in progress, and finished parts for adherence to blueprint specifications
- Utilize precision measuring equipment such as gages, calipers, micrometers, and Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
- Segregate non-conforming material and pieces, providing reasons for rejection
- Perform dimensional layouts on sample components for approval of supplier tooling
- Document all findings and assist with interpretation as required
- Provide feedback to production team members on how to bring rejected parts within specifications
- Participate in 5S and Lean activities
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers, Materials team, and Production team to resolve quality issues
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Ability to accurately use precision measuring instruments such as functional gages, calipers, micrometers, depth gages
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 70lbs
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Ability to read blueprints, routings, and measuring equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively and work in a cooperative manner to support a team environment
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or demonstrated ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a high school level
Nice to Have
- Associates Degree in any field
- Experience operating and programming a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM)
- Knowledge of metallurgical properties or related course work
