Quality Engineer

About This Role

This Quality Engineer role drives shop-floor quality programs, manages internal and external quality initiatives, and leads continuous improvement efforts. The position focuses on reducing costs associated with poor quality by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Identify and execute continuous improvement projects focused on reducing internal and external non-conformance
• Own the scrap reporting process and lead scrap reduction initiatives
• Own and maintain internal and external quality control programs
• Own vendor quality control and incoming inspection programs
• Support customer service on quality-related issues
• Provide shop-floor support for quality concerns
• Develop, maintain, and control procedures and control plans
• Track non-conformance costs and establish corrective action programs
• Manage gauge and fixture tracking and calibration programs
• Participate in continuous improvement and Lean initiatives

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
• 2-4 years of experience in manufacturing or quality engineering
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Inventor, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Working knowledge of bill of material structures and costing
• Strong structured problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis
• Basic understanding of ERP systems and general business terminology
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S, PDCA, and continuous improvement
• Ability to work with internal and external customers to resolve quality issues
• Experience collaborating with vendors to improve quality systems
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• High mechanical and technical aptitude

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
• 2-4 years of experience in manufacturing or quality engineering
