The Manufacturing Quality Engineer partners with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure product and process quality across fabrication, assembly, powder coating, and operations. This role focuses on daily shop-floor engagement, rapid problem solving, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Support production teams with real-time quality troubleshooting across manufacturing and support processes
- Validate containment actions to ensure nonconforming material is properly identified and controlled
- Conduct Gemba walks to verify error-proofing, process controls, and standard work adherence
- Create quality alerts for critical issues
- Collect and log nonconforming material in ERP system, lead Material Review Board
- Review and summarize FPY, scrap, rework, and issue logs
- Analyze scrap and COPQ using Pareto methods
- Lead structured problem-solving and corrective action events
- Conduct process audits
- Support calibration of tools and maintain quality documentation
Requirements
- 3-7 years of experience in quality engineering in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, assembly, powder coating)
- Proficient in quality tools: A3, 8D, PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA
- Experience with ISO 9001
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Statistical data analysis and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field
- 3-7 years of experience in quality engineering, in a manufacturing environment
Nice to Have
- Certifications such as CQE, CQA, Six Sigma Green Belt
- Experience with ERP systems and quality management software
