About This Role

This Quality Engineer will support new product development, process improvement, and daily production in the aerospace and defense sector. They will analyze technical data, create manufacturing processes, and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the Company’s Corrective Action and MRB Boards
  • Comply with all company policies/procedures and military/contractual requirements
  • Works with various departments to drive continuous improvement in products and processes
  • Develop, acquire, sort, and analyze performance data to identify adverse trends and improvement opportunities
  • Assure all regulatory requirements are maintained and kept current (FAA/PMA, UL, AS9100, PED, ASME, etc.)
  • Lead continuous improvement teams for root cause analyses and corrective action plans
  • Prepare graphic presentations of performance trends with action plan summaries
  • Witness tear downs of Customer's Returns and Qualification Units
  • Develop Flow Charts, SPC, PFMEA and Control Plans for product families and processes
  • Escort and lead Customer Audits

Requirements

  • Demonstrated aptitude for process improvement and use of Lean and Six-Sigma resources and tools
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills focused on root cause analysis
  • Ability to perform assembly level tolerance analysis, NDT audits, FAI review, and Purchase Order Review
  • Strong metal processing background (Heat Treating, Surface Finishing, Forging, Casting, etc.)
  • Solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking
  • Knowledge of Government/Customer contracts experience
  • Familiar with the FAR, DFAR, and Aerospace Customers’ Requirements
  • Excellent use and understanding of 5 Whys, Failure mode and effects analysis, 8-D, Pareto analysis, Fault tree analysis, and Ishikawa diagram
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards including AS9100, ISO and FAR 145
  • Strong math and statistics knowledge
  • Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5
  • Thorough knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Project

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering preferred; experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • 5+ years of hands-on quality experience in an aerospace or high precision manufacturing environment

Nice to Have

  • Master of Science in Engineering
  • Experience with high mix / low to mid volume production rates
  • Extensive machining background in close tolerance products involving various metal alloys
  • Quality improvement experience with motors, valves and/or gauges
