About This Role

This Quality Engineer role is responsible for implementing and maintaining AS9100 Rev D quality requirements on space and defense projects. The engineer will ensure product quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency by adhering to industry standards and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer-imposed quality documents to assess applicability and compliance with AAE operations
  • Review AAE quality documents to assure compliance with customer specifications and contractual requirements
  • Evaluate corrective actions and ensure completeness and conclusiveness
  • Maintain standard procedures, including a quality manual, encompassing all customer quality requirements
  • Interface regularly with customers to manage MRB activity and maintain positive working relationships
  • Generate lesson plans and participate in the training of inspection personnel
  • Review shop planning for adequate inspection points incorporation into manufacturing processes
  • Verify product meets quality requirements through inspection functions
  • Monitor AAE's Quality Metrics, including scrap and rework costs, and initiate improvement projects
  • Review and validate all costs to ensure necessity and efficiency

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree
  • Knowledge of AS9100 Rev D quality requirements
  • Knowledge of current standards for space and defense specification requirements
  • Familiarity with space and defense inspection and quality control practices
  • Familiarity with space and defense technical terminology
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in technical writing
  • Ability to investigate technical problems methodically and evaluate objectively
  • Ability to plan and present procedures, methods, and tools to management
  • U.S. Person

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree, preferably in an engineering or technical field

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in the space and defense industry
  • Experience in quality systems administration
  • Experience in quality system auditing and customer audits
  • Knowledge of aerospace or similar manufacturing quality procedures
  • Experience in data analysis (cost of quality nonconformance trends, scrap and rework reports, supplier performance)
