Lead the development and management of manufacturing quality processes and strategic ingredient roadmap for pet food ingredients. The Quality Manager will build a best-in-class next generation ingredient processing and develop a Quality Management System to achieve significant sales growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and management of manufacturing quality processes and strategic ingredient roadmap
- Play a leading role in building a best-in-class next generation ingredient processing
- Instrumental in developing an organization aligned on quality across the supply chain
- Design and manage the Quality Management System to enable $10M+ sales in the first 12 months
- Collaborate with finance, manufacturing, and engineering to ensure cold chain integrity and product quality
- Ensure product traceability from raw materials through shipping using ERP systems
- Collaborate with Operations leadership and CEO to develop and implement quality management procedures
- Ensure the safety of the quality team during daily operations
- Drive the selection and implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS)
- Provide direction and management support to 3+ members of the quality team
- Implement ERP and QMS processes for traceability, quality, inventory, shipping, and invoicing
- Ensure compliance with FDA cold chain requirements and all local, state, and federal regulations
- Set product quality specifications and ensure records compliance
- Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
- Assess potential risks to product quality and food safety and proactively address them
- Monitor key quality performance indicators (KPIs) and communicate findings to senior leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related field
- 10+ years of industry experience in Food Manufacturing
- 5+ years Quality Management experience, with mandatory experience in flavor business
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Prior enterprise level quality and food safety experience
- Knowledge and experience working with FDA, USDA, NOAA Seafood Inspection Program and international regulatory agencies
- Knowledge and experience with GFSI and QMS certifications
- Extensive experience in food/beverage manufacturing and food safety practices
- PCQI certified
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related field, Masters preferred
- 10+ years of industry experience in Food Manufacturing; 5+ years Quality Management experience with mandatory experience in flavor business
Nice to Have
- Masters in Food Science, Microbiology or related field
- Seafood HACCP certified
