Quality Area Supervisor

About This Role

Supervise a team of UAW employees, ensuring process controls meet corporate standards and preventing defects in the automotive manufacturing process. This role is responsible for implementing and sustaining vehicle control plans to deliver a world-class product to the customer.

Responsibilities

• Manage day to day quality control and quality inspection activities in the assigned area(s)
• Directly supervise hourly and/or SBU personnel
• Perform daily auditing across all shifts to hold Team Members and Team Leaders accountable, including issuing discipline
• Cover other salary functions during vacations, absences, and business needs
• Commence or cease production operations based on quality, safety, and regulatory requirements using independent judgment
• Direct the workforce to follow government regulations and all applicable MQGR and Level 1 standards
• Identify needs for process improvements and required procedures
• Document conditions found and identify opportunities for process improvement
• Communicate results to quality and plant management
• Plan, prioritize, set goals, and manage multiple projects in technical and business environments
• Lead and support meetings at all levels of the company, including SR leadership
• Establish internal and external partnerships and influence without direct authority
• Provide expert technical leadership and direct cross-functional teams in applying quality initiatives
• Lead the closure of open J1 issues and ensure compliance with Quality/MQGR standards (post PPR process after J1)
• Develop and enhance PPR & audit checklists over time
• Perform process audits based on internal and external quality indicators, leveraging standard checklists questions
• Review critical processes and stations daily per Voice of the Customer (VOC)

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an Associate's degree with relevant supervisory experience
• Demonstrated planning/problem solving skills
• Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
• Experience and working knowledge of computer systems and software
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to analyze, synthesize and translate data into visual charts/graphs
• Flexibility to work on a rotating crew/shift schedule
• Creative problem solver, proactive and steadfast in identification and resolution of vehicle quality issues

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or an Associate's degree with relevant supervisory experience
• 2+ years of quality-related experience, supervisory experience of hourly personnel, and broad automotive engineering, manufacturing, testing and quality landscape knowledge.

Nice to Have

• Manufacturing / Assembly Plant experience
• Propulsion Systems or Fuel Cell Knowledge/experience
• Knowledge of fundamentals of eMachines, Power Electronics and electrification power flow
• Two (2) years of quality related experience
• Basic Knowledge of Statistics
• Previous Leadership experience
• Engineering degree or equivalent
