This role involves working within an Engineering team to develop and launch manufacturing processes, ensuring they meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives for new model and adaptation programs. The mechanical engineer will support all Manufacturing Engineering functions for powertrain battery tray/frame, casting, components, engine, and transmission programs across North America.
Responsibilities
- Perform assessments for process changes and related investment requirements for cost studies
- Understand engineering scope definition, Requests for Quotes (RFQ’s), sourcing, technical evaluations, design, manufacturing, and installation of air/mist/coolant collectors and filtration
- Develop and support maintaining PFMEA & MFMEA (Process/Machine Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
- Support and prioritize Non-New Model (NNM) powertrain programs requests, ensuring completion on time and within budget
- Support all New Model (NM) program’s facilities aspects including site preparation and machine installation
- Support flow activities on programs ensuring successful implementation and tracking of the Iron Triangle (Scope, Timing, and Cost)
- Participate in the implementation of Stellantis Production Way (SPW) methodology, including advanced tools and systematic root cause problem solving
- Develop/improve process and equipment standards related to facilities infrastructure
- Develop and support maintaining Operation and Tool, Process Records
- Drive standardization across plants in all regions
Requirements
- High school degree or GED and 3 years of experience in engineering or a related technical field
- Ability to work and interact with all levels of the organization
- Strong oral, written, presentation and organizational skills
- Ability to translate technical data and analysis into an executive summary format
- Ability to embrace cross-functional teams for developing, specifying, building, and launching powertrain manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of advanced problem-solving skills and data analysis to identify root causes
- Knowledge of cost studies and strategic planning
- Microsoft Office intermediate or advanced knowledge
Qualifications
- High school degree or GED
- 3 years of experience in engineering or a related technical field
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or technical equivalent
- Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Background in Die Design and Development, Die maintenance
- Progressive and Transfer Press Knowledge
- 5 or more years manufacturing experience
- Powertrain Manufacturing experience
- 5 or more years’ experience in program management or multi-tasking environment
