Project Management Engineer

About This Role

Lead and manage the capital project engineering team for a manufacturing plant, driving project development, technical expertise, and successful project implementation. This role involves balancing resources, workload, and fostering team growth while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering team with a positive attitude, aligning with the organization's mission, vision, and values
• Analyze technology, resource needs, risks, and costs to assess project feasibility
• Direct, review, and approve technical designs and changes for projects
• Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts related to Engineering and capital projects
• Coordinate and direct capital projects to execute on time and within budget
• Perform administrative functions such as reviewing reports, approving expenditures, and making purchase decisions
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement countermeasures on losses related to electrical and mechanical failures
• Provide technical assistance to production and maintenance departments
• Conduct behavior-based and 5S audits, supporting EHS goals
• Participate in Incident & Near Miss Investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions
• Establish process parameters and develop scalable manufacturing processes for new projects
• Provide technical support and guidance to production teams during new project launches
• Communicate progress and status updates to key stakeholders, including senior management
• Manage budgeting for vendors and ensure adherence to target agreements
• Lead conflict resolution, collaborate with the plant manager, and promote employee development
• Coordinate project engineers, manufacturing, supply chain, and electrical engineers to ensure project specifications are met

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
• 7 years of related work experience in project engineering in manufacturing (composites, metallic, coatings, production operations)
• 2 years of prior management/leadership experience in Manufacturing Project Engineering
• Ability to work 1st shift (7am-4:30pm) and any work schedule
• Ability to travel to various job sites

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
• 7+ years of related work experience in project engineering in manufacturing including composites, metallic, coatings application, and/or production manufacturing operations. (OR Master's Degree in STEM AND 5 years of experience)
