The Project Leader will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of projects, ensuring they align with organizational objectives, budget constraints, and timely delivery. This role involves navigating project challenges, communicating effectively with stakeholders, and fostering a collaborative, inclusive team environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and nurture a safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA, State, and Veolia Safety and Environmental Programs.
- Ensure compliant execution of contracts, adhering to environmental, safety, operating, and emergency response procedures.
- Manage resources (personnel, equipment, materials, funds) effectively, demonstrating strong leadership and mentoring skills.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, administering client contracts to ensure compliance and satisfaction.
- Oversee budget preparation, implement cost control measures, and manage full P&L for assigned projects.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work culture, providing strategic leadership, coaching, and mentoring to regional personnel.
- Champion a culture of safety excellence by implementing and enforcing comprehensive safety protocols and conducting regular training.
- Maintain outstanding relationships with current clients, facilitating opportunities for scope expansions, contract extensions, and renewals.
- Interpret contracts to define deliverables, fulfill schedules, and manage routine client meetings.
- Manage contract MBE/WBE/VBE procurement requirements and identify and justify capital expenditures.
- Monitor project's financial performance, including compliance with cost center budget, personnel utilization, pricing, invoicing, and collections.
- Manage facilities generally >10 mgd, including several worksites or a single large water/wastewater plant, supervising a staff of >10 FTEs.
Requirements
- 6 years of leadership experience (4 years in project team leadership)
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- P&L ownership, budgeting, and cost control experience
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
- Commitment to compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
- Ability to understand and manage safety, environmental, and health requirements
Qualifications
- A degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field is strongly preferred but not required.
- 6 years of leadership experience, 4 of which involved leading project teams, with a strong emphasis on effective team collaboration and project delivery.
