Project Estimator

About This Role

This Project Estimator role involves preparing and reviewing project estimates for general and discipline-specific aspects. The position is responsible for conceptual estimating, cost analysis, and coordinating estimate efforts for major or multiple small projects within the context of large-scale construction, particularly nuclear power facilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage the development of estimates from inception to completion, including budget and team leadership
• Consolidate estimate components and prepare proposal cost volumes and bid forms
• Review estimates, ensure quality and integrity, and incorporate lessons learned
• Review design or RFP scope criteria for completeness and reasonableness, coordinating with the project for additional basis
• Support bid evaluation of cost and schedule criteria and prepare bid evaluations
• Prepare non-manual, distributable or contractors indirect cost estimates
• Present estimate's management review package to stakeholders and schedule internal reviews
• Perform and review escalation calculations for complex jobs
• Identify ways to mitigate risk and assess uncertainties in productivity, material pricing, wage rates, and quantity variation
• Prepare cost studies utilizing historical data, statistical analysis, and cost and quantity comparisons

Requirements

• Legal right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship
• Ability to pass nuclear security screening requirements and obtain/maintain unescorted access to a nuclear power facility
• Ability to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
• Demonstrated understanding of Estimating core processes
• Knowledge of estimating software tools
• Advanced knowledge of EPC estimating methods, processes, and procedures
• Understanding of detail level estimates and design packages
• Experience with Lump Sum, Design Build, Cost Reimbursable, and/or OOM estimates
• Significant knowledge and experience in quantity takeoffs, statistical analysis, cost and price analysis, life cycle analysis
• Skilled in understanding technical discipline processes, engineering drawings, quantity determinations, and financials
• Advanced knowledge of construction methods and general understanding of other disciplines
• Thorough understanding of project cash flows and time value of money
• Thorough understanding of cost index and escalation projection sources
• Understanding and contribution to risk and contingency assessments
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Skilled in oral and written communications, including presentation skills
• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and offices as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent)
• 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Nice to Have

• Project Controls leadership experience on nuclear power plant projects
• Intermediate knowledge of applicable Bechtel processes and systems
• EPC/EPCM experience on major infrastructure programs
