About This Role

This role involves providing specialized field engineering expertise for construction projects, focusing on work planning, material management, quantity verification, safety, quality control, and subcontract coordination. The Field Engineer ensures that field activities are safe, complete, and adhere to quality and project standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare construction drawings, sketches, and schedules
  • Design and ensure preparation of "as built" drawings and temporary construction facilities
  • Initiate requisitions for field purchases and prepare quantity takeoffs for materials
  • Verify commodities on quantity tracking systems or computer databases
  • Ensure zero accident philosophy and safety requirements are implemented and adhered to on site
  • Continuously learn and pursue appropriate technical learning activities
  • Develop a firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings for package development
  • Review and approve inspection test plans and coordinate reviews of subcontractor submittals

Requirements

  • Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation
  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy
  • Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications (BSAP standards)
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment
  • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts and contractor/subcontractor responsibilities
  • Experience working with, supervising and administering subcontractors and/or Direct Hire workforce

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline, or specialized courses in construction technology and management
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience, or 12-14 years of relevant work experience without a degree

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of the Six Sigma program tools and methodologies
  • Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities
  • Knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs)
