Project Engineer

About This Role

This Project Engineer will support the planning and daily execution of construction projects, assisting the project manager with budget control, material coordination, and administrative tasks. The role requires a highly organized individual capable of working in a fast-paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist project management by proactively managing the project budget, controlling expenses, and administering owner and subcontractor billings
• Identify work not covered by subcontractor’s scope of work/budget
• Proactively administer, review, and process all submittal data and shop drawings to ensure expedited project schedules and timely material delivery
• Conduct pre-construction meetings with subcontractors
• Prepare and keep As-Built drawings and specifications up-to-date
• Serve as the onsite quality manager for assigned trades, verifying subcontractor deliveries meet approved submittal requirements
• Attend and participate in meetings with architect/engineer and owner representatives, provide information, and assist in preparing progress reports/meeting minutes
• Distribute proposal change documents to subcontractors/suppliers and assist in pricing collection or prepare change proposal requests
• Build effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups
• Supervise and provide diverse construction and commissioning phase support to the on-site project team
• Understand and support jobsite safety requirements

Requirements

• B.S. in Construction Management, Project Management or Engineering, or 2-4 years of progressive construction related trade experience
• Ability to organize people, tools, equipment, and plan/manage multiple activities
• Strong decision-making ability under tight deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Office, Outlook)

Qualifications

• B.S. in Construction Management, Project Management or Engineering
• Entry level graduate or 2 to 4 years of progressive construction related trade experience

• Ability to read and interpret construction documents
