This Project Engineer role involves ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications, reviewing drawings, and recommending cost-saving methods. The individual will support project managers in coordinating and delivering construction projects, with a focus on mission-critical facilities.
Responsibilities
- Assure compliance by becoming intimately familiar with assigned project plans and specifications
- Review shop drawings and submittals
- Review plans for value analysis and constructability, communicating inconsistencies to the architect
- Recommend labor-saving and other cost-saving methods
- Attend and take notes for project team meetings, distributing minutes to participants
- Publish weekly progress reports for assigned projects, following up for information receipt, review, and distribution
- Update project schedules as needed
- Assist in bidding and developing scope of work for trade contractors
- Work with the superintendent to prepare the project schedule and ensure timely completion
- Maintain logs reflecting the status of shop drawings, requests for clarification, change requests, and proposal requests
- Advise on proper procedures for concrete pours and inspect structural reinforcing
- Coordinate standard slump and compaction testing to verify compliance to specifications
- Review field procedures and final installation of structural elements to ensure compliance of the work
- Perform work sampling, observing and analyzing methods to improve production efficiency
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field, or equivalent education and experience
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to read and understand blueprints
- Ability to understand and apply OSHA and company safety requirements
- Integrity, maintaining ethical standards and organizational policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field, or the equivalent education and experience
- One year previous field experience preferred
Nice to Have
- One year previous field experience
- Working knowledge of scheduling programs
- Ability to understand and convey basic Spanish commands, questions, and instructions regarding concrete construction
