About This Role

This Project Engineer role involves ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications, reviewing drawings, and recommending cost-saving methods. The individual will support project managers in coordinating and delivering construction projects, with a focus on mission-critical facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assure compliance by becoming intimately familiar with assigned project plans and specifications
  • Review shop drawings and submittals
  • Review plans for value analysis and constructability, communicating inconsistencies to the architect
  • Recommend labor-saving and other cost-saving methods
  • Attend and take notes for project team meetings, distributing minutes to participants
  • Publish weekly progress reports for assigned projects, following up for information receipt, review, and distribution
  • Update project schedules as needed
  • Assist in bidding and developing scope of work for trade contractors
  • Work with the superintendent to prepare the project schedule and ensure timely completion
  • Maintain logs reflecting the status of shop drawings, requests for clarification, change requests, and proposal requests
  • Advise on proper procedures for concrete pours and inspect structural reinforcing
  • Coordinate standard slump and compaction testing to verify compliance to specifications
  • Review field procedures and final installation of structural elements to ensure compliance of the work
  • Perform work sampling, observing and analyzing methods to improve production efficiency
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field, or equivalent education and experience
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Ability to understand and apply OSHA and company safety requirements
  • Integrity, maintaining ethical standards and organizational policies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field, or the equivalent education and experience
  • One year previous field experience preferred

Nice to Have

  • One year previous field experience
  • Working knowledge of scheduling programs
  • Ability to understand and convey basic Spanish commands, questions, and instructions regarding concrete construction
