About This Role

Lead small to medium-scale engineering projects and provide support on mid-level complexity projects, focusing on design changes, derivative tool releases, and product maintenance. This role involves utilizing engineering skills and project management abilities to execute design changes and improve existing products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead small to medium scale engineering projects and provide engineering support on mid-level complexity projects
  • Work cross-functionally and globally with Quality & Reliability Engineering, Purchasing, Finance, Service & Support, Marketing, and numerous other departments
  • Evaluate product designs relative to the selection, cost and resolution of problems associated with materials, heat treatment and finishes
  • Assist in developing comprehensive project plans and drive project execution to meet cost, schedule, and performance targets
  • Monitor & Track project progress and provide monthly project status updates to senior management and the project team
  • Regularly visit manufacturing cells/suppliers to maintain open lines of communication and provide troubleshooting analysis
  • Request and perform tests per established procedures
  • Interpret data and make corresponding design recommendations including utilization of computer aided simulation tools, stress analysis, selection of materials and heat treatments, tolerance stacks and deviation analysis, and selection and evaluation of lubricant properties and uses
  • Interact with suppliers to develop part and product specifications that meet performance requirements while falling within process capabilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience
  • Ability to travel Internationally & domestically several times of year (15% travel)
  • Ability to manage several simultaneous projects
  • Highly developed Mechanical aptitude including a broad knowledge of engineering materials used in hand tools, and an understanding of the manufacturing processes associated with these materials
  • Ability to use CAD
  • Strong problem-solving skill set and understands design, testing, and manufacturing processes (grinding, stamping, heat treatment, functional coatings, machining, etc.)
  • Able to provide a basic overview of upcoming workload and identify potential resource bottlenecks
  • Understanding of DFMA and various cost drivers associated with materials, labor & overhead

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant working experience

Nice to Have

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Unigraphics or Pro-E CAD experience
  • PMP/CAPM certification
