Project Engineer

About This Role

Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in various construction project phases, including bidding, scheduling, cost management, and field supervision, ensuring compliance with contract documents and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review contract documents, design documents, and submittals for compliance and constructability issues
• Assist Project Manager and Superintendent with project proposal review to determine timeframe, budget, resources, and schedule
• Prepare Invitations to Bid (ITBs) and solicit competitive trade proposals
• Develop estimates and perform quantity take-offs
• Assist with job site start-up and develop/maintain schedules
• Complete accurate daily reports, produce project photographs, safety logs, and cost coding using CMiC
• Coordinate Subcontractors and maintain punch lists
• Issue monthly payment applications and prepare master cost breakdown
• Prepare Requests for Information (RFIs) and manage project close-out procedures

Requirements

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
• Valid State-issued driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
• Knowledge and understanding of construction operations
• Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, and other construction documents
• Knowledge of estimating, construction costs, and cost control procedures
• Understanding of local, state, federal (including OSHA) safety and environmental regulations
• Proficiency in computers, Microsoft Project, Word, Excel and Outlook

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 1-2 years of experience as a Project Engineer, or similar position, with a construction general contractor is preferred.

Nice to Have

• 1-2 years of experience as a Project Engineer with a construction general contractor
• Knowledge of CMiC and/or MS Project
