About This Role

Manage the planning, scheduling, implementation, and evaluation of education and community outreach programs within the Division of Extended Studies at UC San Diego. Resolve educational program issues, develop new programs, and contribute to long-range strategic planning.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning, scheduling, implementation, and evaluation of programs and courses in Teacher and Community Education (TCE) department
  • Resolve a wide range of educational program issues and needs assessments
  • Develop new public educational programs and work on complex public educational programs of diverse scope
  • Select methods and techniques for delivering courses, presentations and development programs
  • Conduct ongoing course schedule planning
  • Recruit instructors and provide student and instructor advising
  • Conduct periodic program and course evaluation and adjustment
  • Participate in long-range strategic planning with the department director and stakeholders
  • Develop outlines for new course curricula and recommend updates to existing content
  • Participate in the development of strategic marketing plans and coordinate marketing events
  • Develop and monitor budgets

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience working in, education programs, including K-16 and Early Childhood Education (ECE)
  • Demonstrated experience with continuing education, early childhood education, professional associations, and corporate contract training
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles to build sustainable learning with adults
  • Demonstrated experience providing academic advising to students
  • Demonstrated experience hiring and training instructors
  • Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations
  • Thorough and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills
  • Thorough knowledge of organization policies and procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of and skill in delivering programs
  • Thorough knowledge of current public educational programs and trends
  • Thorough skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new presentations / courses
  • Knowledge of managing a portfolio of business and management courses at the university or corporate level, specifically K-16 education and Early Childhood Education / Development
  • Skill in using business software systems like Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • Thorough knowledge of marketing concepts including participating in developing marketing plans, targeting audiences, and coordinating marketing events
  • Demonstrated experience developing and overseeing budgets

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
