General Accountant 1

About This Role

This role involves performing transactional accounting duties, maintaining general accounting systems, and preparing financial reports and projections for various departmental funds.

Responsibilities

• Perform transactional accounting duties
• Use and maintain one or more general accounting systems
• Gather data to prepare financial reports and projections
• Reconcile expenditures with UC San Diego general ledgers
• Produce ad hoc reports as required
• Participate in the department budgeting and financial closing processes
• Prepare budget adjustments, cost transfers, and expense transfers
• Apply established accounting practices and procedures in analyzing and reporting accounting data

Requirements

• Accounting experience
• Attention to detail
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Time Management/organizational skills/Multitasking
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
• Ability to gather, organize, and perform basic accounting-related analysis
• Basic knowledge of financial transactions and systems, policy, accounting, and regulatory compliance
• Basic knowledge of common desktop/web applications
• Excel skills; proven ability using spreadsheets and database software for financials analysis
• Ability to function as a member of a team

Qualifications

• Accounting experience

Nice to Have

• Medical Billing needed for some of our positions
• Basic knowledge of UC San Diego systems and applications
