Lead a production team focused on plastic extrusion of raw materials into finished goods. Ensure efficient equipment operation, maintain product quality, and meet production targets while adhering to safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of the Bay to ensure smooth and efficient operation
- Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide guidance to the team
- Ensure equipment is properly set up, maintained, and operated according to SOPs
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs or maintenance
- Assist supervisor with production planning, scheduling personnel, and monitoring progress
- Assist supervisor with staff recruiting, selection, orientation, and training
- Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, and identifying solutions
- Facilitate effective communication and information flow with other departments
- Communicate job expectations, monitor, and appraise job results; coach, counsel, and discipline employees
- Engage with Quality Control in the implementation and enforcement of quality control procedures
- Conduct regular inspections and tests to verify product quality and address non-conformities
- Maintain housekeeping according to 5S standards and promote a culture of safety
- Provide training and guidance to staff, identify training needs, and organize programs
- Maintain accurate records of production activities, equipment maintenance, and quality control results
- Generate reports on production metrics, efficiency, and quality performance
- Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices and requirements
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and evaluate new technologies
- Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process, setting variables, and optimizing resources
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience in manufacturing or a similar role within the plastics industry
- Familiarity with safety regulations and quality control standards in the manufacturing industry
- Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient computer skills for data entry, documentation, and reporting
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. regularly
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical or vocational training in manufacturing, mechanical or related field is preferred
- Proven experience in manufacturing or a similar role within the plastics industry
