Product Development Engineer

About This Role

This role involves driving the development of successful and profitable product programs for a full product category within SharkNinja. The position requires leading new product development from conception to mass production, partnering with stakeholders on strategy, and managing a team of product developers.

Responsibilities

• Drive the SharkNinja business with the development of successful and profitable programs for a full product category to ensure continued growth of the product portfolio
• Lead new product development (creation and management) of assigned product category from brainstorm phase through mass production
• Partner with the EVP to define the over-arching category roadmap direction to a team of product developers from entry through manager level
• Lead, manage, and grow team members (from Intern up to Manager level) within the organization
• Identify emerging trends and consumer preferences to drive the development of innovation that aligns with market needs
• Steer the development of user-relevant design targets for product performance and user experience
• Partner with SharkNinja's Consumer Insights team to develop consumer testing objectives and implement feedback into product specifications
• Partner with SharkNinja's testing and quality organizations to define, develop, and manage quality and performance testing procedures
• Manage product cost structure, reporting, and cost rationalization exercises
• Collaborate with supply chain, merchandising, and supply planning teams on product sourcing strategy recommendations

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in product development, product marketing, marketing, human factors engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience leading product development in consumer products
• Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Marketing, Management, Engineering or a combination of the above
• Prior experience hiring, managing, leading, and goal-setting with team members
• A "100% on" consumer-first perspective when it comes to introducing new products/processes or improving current products
• Ability to effectively "manage up" by communicating priorities and seeking feedback
• Mindset geared toward building relationships across multi-functional teams
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Highly-effective communication skills - both written and in-person
• Strong project management skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Marketing, Management, Engineering or a combination of the above
• 10+ years of experience in product development, product marketing, marketing, human factors engineering, or a related field, preferably at a consumer goods company. 5+ years of experience leading product development in consumer products.
