Produce Manager

About This Role

Manage the produce department to achieve sales and profit goals, while maintaining operational standards and guest relations. This role involves inventory control, scheduling, and training departmental staff.

Responsibilities

• Follow weekly company sales program to attain maximum sales volume
• Achieve budgeted gross profit figures as established by Produce Merchandising Department
• Prepare all produce records as required by the Accounting & Merchandising Departments
• Follow all company policies related to weighing, pricing, packaging, and displaying of merchandise
• Unload trucks and maintain backroom storage
• Maintain coolers and freezers to standard
• Account for inventory control
• Reinforce sanitation, safe food handling practices, security, safety, and company guidelines
• Assist guests and maintain good guest relations
• Consult with Store Manager to review meat operations, and advanced planning and scheduling
• Responsible for scheduling of the department
• Ensure the department is run in compliance with company standards (as measured by ALI audits)
• Ensure direct reports understand expectations for performance and provide feedback
• Teach and train departmental staff, and build a talent planning bench for the department

Requirements

• Ability to work well with others
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and 25 lbs. constantly
• Ability to read and understand information and direction
• Knowledge of produce operations
• Ability to supervise people including training and development
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job
• Effective communication and guest service skills
• Ability to bend, kneel and stand for extended periods of time
