This Procurement Buyer role is responsible for selecting and purchasing quality construction materials and equipment, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring optimal cost and timely delivery for Preferred Materials, Inc., a CRH Company.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with vendors to ensure on-time deliveries, consistent quality, uninterrupted supply chain, and best pricing
- Handle correspondence concerning under/over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates, or prices and report changes to internal stakeholders
- Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve procurement challenges
- Implement procurement strategy to ensure continuity of supply and alternative source of supply
- Understand and communicate market dynamics and price movements
- Analyze spend for vendors and service providers to define portfolio strategy
- Lead quality improvement program for vendors and service providers
- Analyze inventory and payment terms financial impact
- Deliver price saving projects as defined by the procurement manager
- Lead supplier development program as assigned by procurement
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years' minimum experience working in procurement
- Sound knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Exceptional time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage and coordinate competing organizational needs
- Knowledge and experience with strategic procurement process, procurement best practices, import regulations, competitive bidding, market conditions, general contract terms and conditions
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to distill strategy into a clear, compelling, and concise narrative
- Ability to analyze complex data and derive well supported conclusions
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education and/or work experience in a related field
- 3 to 5 years' minimum experience working in procurement
