Procurement Buyer

About This Role

This Procurement Buyer role is responsible for selecting and purchasing quality construction materials and equipment, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring optimal cost and timely delivery for Preferred Materials, Inc., a CRH Company.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with vendors to ensure on-time deliveries, consistent quality, uninterrupted supply chain, and best pricing
• Handle correspondence concerning under/over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates, or prices and report changes to internal stakeholders
• Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve procurement challenges
• Implement procurement strategy to ensure continuity of supply and alternative source of supply
• Understand and communicate market dynamics and price movements
• Analyze spend for vendors and service providers to define portfolio strategy
• Lead quality improvement program for vendors and service providers
• Analyze inventory and payment terms financial impact
• Deliver price saving projects as defined by the procurement manager
• Lead supplier development program as assigned by procurement

Requirements

• 3 to 5 years' minimum experience working in procurement
• Sound knowledge of MS Office suite, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
• Exceptional time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to manage and coordinate competing organizational needs
• Knowledge and experience with strategic procurement process, procurement best practices, import regulations, competitive bidding, market conditions, general contract terms and conditions
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to distill strategy into a clear, compelling, and concise narrative
• Ability to analyze complex data and derive well supported conclusions
• Demonstrated problem solving skills

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education and/or work experience in a related field
• 3 to 5 years' minimum experience working in procurement

• Experience working in a construction environment
