Process Engineer

About This Role

This role involves supporting and improving high-volume thermoforming and plastics manufacturing operations for a leading food and beverage packaging manufacturer. The engineer will lead projects from concept to production, troubleshoot equipment, and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead moderate to large-scale engineering and capital projects, from concept through installation and commissioning
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and support thermoforming and plastics production equipment and processing lines
• Design, improve, and document manufacturing processes, SOPs, test plans, and control strategies
• Support new product introductions, process scale-ups, and plant trials
• Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, yield, and cost
• Partner cross-functionally with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams
• Serve as a technical owner for assigned equipment, processes, or product families

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, or Associate's degree with 9+ years
• Hands-on experience with production equipment, process troubleshooting, and data-driven improvement
• Working knowledge of SPC, FMEA, DOE, Root Cause Analysis, 5S, 8D
• Experience in plastics manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree
• 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience for Process Engineer, 6+ years for Senior Process Engineer

Nice to Have

• Direct experience in thermoforming plastics manufacturing (thermoformed cup experience is a strong plus)
• Background in injection molding, print, or high-volume manufacturing environments
• Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
• Experience supporting new product introductions
• Familiarity with CAD and/or process simulation tools
