This role involves ensuring excellent patient care and safety standards in the procedure room at Brigham and Women's Hospital. The assistant will provide medical assistance and support a patient/family focused care philosophy.
Responsibilities
- Promote patient/family focused care through cordial greeting and interactions with patients, families, and hospital personnel
- Provide hospital/unit orientation information for guests, patients, and families
- Demonstrate awareness of hospital systems and procedures, location of all departments, procedure areas, and other patient services
- Refer patients, families, and others to appropriate resources
- Independently transport and assist in the transfer of patients
- Properly identify patients utilizing 2 approved identifiers
- Ensure safety and support measures in patient transfer (e.g., bedrails raised, patient covered with blanket and warm)
- Be aware of special precautions when transferring patients with specific needs
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Medical Office/Hospital/Managed Care experience
- Ability to comprehend written directions for mixing cleaning supplies and ordering supplies
- Awareness of proper body mechanics when assisting in patient transfer and lifting of heavy objects
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with the surgical team
- Ability to constantly be alert and attentive to progress of procedure schedule to meet tight deadlines
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 1+ year of Medical Office/Hospital/Managed Care experience, 1+ year Operating Room experience preferred
