About This Role

This Principal Network Engineer will partner with various teams to translate business and technical requirements into service architecture components, ensuring compliance and operability. The role involves designing service delivery systems, leading incident response, and driving continuous improvement in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Engineering, Development, QA, and Program/Project Management to translate requirements into service architecture components
  • Create and identify standards and best practices for required architecture
  • Design components of a service delivery system, defining tools, hardware, processes, and documentation
  • Create detailed project plans including milestones, testing, documentation, and implementation
  • Communicate with stakeholders and apply advanced diagnostic expertise to restore service
  • Own problems during service disruptions and degradations, focusing on permanent solutions
  • Participate in disaster recovery drills and incident response management
  • Own the design, implementation, testing, and management of alerting/telemetry systems and disaster recovery plans
  • Make recommendations on capacity requirements based on service KPIs and usage scenarios
  • Work with stakeholders to create cost models and reporting systems for forecasting and tracking costs
  • Identify potential platform, system, deployment, security, and environmental issues prior to releases
  • Develop and maintain processes to automate tasks and ensure security compliance
  • Own service and infrastructure lifecycle planning to keep critical components current
  • Manage information for applications, devices, and infrastructure data in the CMDB
  • Establish service metrics and analyze data to drive service improvements
  • Analyze operational cost data, identify efficiencies, and influence adoption across the service team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Technology Management, or closely related
  • 8 years experience as a Network Engineer (or 5 years with Master’s degree)
  • 2 years experience in the healthcare industry
  • 8 years experience (or 5 years with Master’s degree) in automation (deployment, recovery, or other manual processes)
  • 8 years experience (or 5 years with Master’s degree) with scripting with one of PowerShell, Perl, Ansible, VB Script, Python, SQL
  • 8 years experience (or 5 years with Master’s degree) with n-tier solutions
  • 8 years experience (or 5 years with Master’s degree) with resilience modeling (failure mode analysis) and ability to simulate service outages
  • Past professional experience influencing engineering team members in translating customer and technical requirements into service architecture
  • Past professional experience leading and representing the Service in backlog discussions and standups to establish appropriate prioritization of Live Site requirements
  • 8 years experience (or 5 years with Master’s degree) leveraging data and metrics to drive behavior, process, and priority decisions
  • Strong experience in advanced problem solving using systematic procedures and investigating problems utilizing root cause analysis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Technology Management, or closely related
  • 8 years experience as a Network Engineer (or 5 years with Master’s degree), including at least 2 years in healthcare industry; 8 years experience in automation (deployment, recovery, etc.); 8 years experience with scripting (PowerShell, Perl, Ansible, VB Script, Python, SQL); 8 years experience with n-tier solutions; 8 years experience with resilience modeling (failure mode analysis).
