Lead the commercialization of new medical device products and improvements by applying technical design skills and collaborating cross-functionally. This role focuses on developing processes from concept to production within a global environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead team meetings on small and large projects to review trade-offs and analyses to optimize solutions
- Utilize complex software tools (Solidworks, Capture, and Windchill) for technical designs that fulfill mechanical specifications
- Provide direction to other individual contributors and communicate effectively to accomplish tasks
- Gather and present data to upper management using tools like Excel and Word
- Develop, test, and execute complex mechanical systems and designs
- Create product concepts using current tool analysis techniques and technologies through parametric CAD software
- Perform Mechanical design/redesign of medical device products applying industry standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5M-2009) to detail drawings
- Create, modify, and maintain documentation using CAD tools tied to a data management system
- Provide support for OEM device documentation and Bill of Material structure
- Review and verify design work of peers for compliance with standards and corporate procedures
- Generate engineering change orders (ECOs) and provide illustrations for product information
Requirements
- Associate’s or 2-year technical degree (or higher) in mechanical drafting or related field
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in mechanical design and using SolidWorks software
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude
- Strong understanding of GD&T
- Demonstrated ability to develop equipment/fixtures/tooling from concept to production
- Demonstrated cross-functional teamwork in technically demanding environment
- Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel, domestic and international, up to 10%
- Full knowledge of GD&T tolerancing
Qualifications

- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in mechanical design and using SolidWorks software
Nice to Have
- Prior experience as a technical lead on team projects
- Molding experience
- Prior experience in medical device industry or similar highly-regulated industry
- Highly motivated individual that can independently drive deliverables to completion
- Experience in New Product Development
- Demonstrated ability to develop and drive innovative solutions into processes and products
- Medical device design experience
- Experience with mechanical design
- Ability to schedule out timelines with specific milestones
