Press Operator

About This Role

Safely and efficiently operate process-specific equipment to print and/or cut materials as a Press Operator, ensuring production requirements are met and equipment malfunctions are reported.

Responsibilities

• Run orders to customer specification by operating printing or printing/cutting machine at established production rate
• Read and interpret job orders and set up machine specific feeder, stacker, rolls, print and/or die cut, conveyor, and scrap conveyor sections of machine
• Maintain machine specific operating efficiency and quality by adjusting machine for speed, tension, and alignment
• Perform process specific changeover to new run by changing over plates, blankets, or cylinders as required and setting up materials for new orders
• Use RF scanner to scan transactions to the Warehouse Management System and generate labels as required
• Maintain quality and perform all required checks prior to production and at assigned inspection points
• Clean ink fountain and process specific plates, and printing unit cylinders when press runs are completed
• Perform sanitation and housekeeping at printing and printing/cutting machines according to requirements
• Perform machine service and scheduled preventative maintenance as required
• Record data on specified forms and complete required line documentation

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a Press Operator or in a similar manufacturing role
• Proven ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced production environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of machine operation, including electronic and/or manual machine controls
• Ability to use an RF scanner for WMS transactions
• Ability to operate process-specific material handling equipment (manual and electric pallet jacks, powered industrial trucks, overhead cranes)
• Ability to read, understand, and comprehend work-related documents
• Basic mathematical skills

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent or trade school preferred
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Press Operator or in a similar manufacturing role

Nice to Have

• Working knowledge of printing processes (flexographic)
• Working knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
