About This Role

The Plant Supervisor provides leadership and training to production employees, ensuring the accomplishment of production objectives related to safety, quality, production, packaging, and maintenance. This role coordinates production activities with other departments and acts as the primary contact for operators regarding mechanical failure or production issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and training to employees for safety, quality, production, packaging, and maintenance objectives.
  • Coordinate production activities with other departments to ensure timely and cost-effective accomplishment of production goals.
  • Act as the first point of contact for operators regarding mechanical failure or production issues.
  • Work with the operations team to ensure coverage for planned and unplanned vacancies.
  • Prepare and review employee worked hours for payroll submission.
  • Establish and monitor shift performance for safety, quality, and production standards.
  • Enter production data accurately into the system to measure and monitor KPIs related to efficiencies, downtime, and inventory.
  • Update communication boards and lead employee start-up meetings to inform the production floor team about metrics and past performance.
  • Respond to employee questions and concerns, working with Human Resources for guidance on sensitive employee relations issues.
  • Implement cost-effective systems to control and improve efficiencies, minimize labor overtime, downtime, and repair expenses.
  • Promote shop floor organization and plant housekeeping utilizing lean techniques such as 6S with shift personnel.
  • Order production-related supplies such as boxes and labels.
  • Conduct tool store inventory reviews to ensure proper tools and/or parts are available for use.

Requirements

  • 3 years supervisory experience in manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or operations management
  • Previous Labor Relations experience
  • Previous experience working in a Lean environment
