About This Role

This role involves performing complex secretarial and administrative duties with a high degree of independence for Endocrinology providers at the University of Rochester. It requires managing provider schedules and patient communications in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for providers, managing calendars and clinic schedules based on templates and preferences.
  • Research patient medical records for pertinent information and complete incoming forms for provider signatures.
  • Review and manage electronic chart work queues, in-baskets, and pools, including order and order information queues.
  • Obtain and upload outside medical records and imaging for future appointments.
  • Respond to provider tasks in a timely manner and communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other agencies.
  • Answer and screen telephone calls, triage patient messages, and define patient expectations.
  • Perform routine secretarial duties such as word processing, mail sorting, copying, and faxing.
  • Assemble data for reports and other documents, occasionally compose confidential correspondence.
  • Coordinate with the team for work allocation and train new hires in office protocols.

Requirements

  • High School degree
  • 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated customer relations skills

  • Experience with surgical/appointment scheduling software (e.g., Epic)
