About This Role

Assist providers during exams and perform a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to support patient care in out-patient clinics. This includes technical and procedural tasks ensuring patient comfort, care, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Apply clinical knowledge while assisting providers during exams, anticipating their needs and adapting to patient complexity
  • Attach patients to diagnostic and medical equipment like dynamapp, pulse oximeter, EKG, cardiac monitor, and pneumatic tourniquet
  • Provide information, comfort, and care to patients during exams, explaining next steps, systems, and status
  • Ensure supplies and equipment are readily available for smooth operations and patient safety, and provide pre-printed discharge instructions
  • Escort patients from waiting areas to exam rooms, obtain vital signs, perform diagnostic testing, and collect specimens per provider order
  • Accurately label, log, and process specimens according to protocols and laboratory policies
  • Enter patient data, condition, and care given into the electronic medical record system
  • Perform administrative duties such as scheduling and registration as assigned
  • Maintain adequacy of clinical equipment and medical supply levels, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and inventory management
  • Implement standard infection prevention measures and monitor practices for breaches
  • Precept new Ambulatory Technologists to the area, with RN oversight, providing detailed overview and ensuring competence
  • Assist providers with patient processes as a surgical procedure assistant, preparing rooms, instrumentation, and patient instructions

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year experience in customer focused/service setting
  • Minimum 6 months of progressively responsible professional work experience in the ambulatory clinic setting

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year experience in customer focused/service setting and minimum 6 months of progressively responsible professional work experience in an ambulatory clinic setting

Nice to Have

  • Associate's degree
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and computer experience
