Physical Therapy Assistant

About This Role

This role involves providing physical therapy treatment to patients under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, ensuring quality care, proper documentation, and coordination with other disciplines. The assistant will contribute to treatment plan development and progression, playing a key role in patient recovery and quality of life within skilled nursing facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical therapy treatments consistent with professional standards of the A.P.T.A. for the Physical Therapist Assistant
• Maintain quality documentation related to accuracy, continuity of care, and reimbursement guidelines
• Coordinate with other disciplines for effective total patient care
• Assure delivery of quality care
• Participate in the discharge planning process and provide patient and family instruction
• Maintain clinical expertise through continuing education
• Contribute to a team philosophy and promote it among staff
• Delegate work assignments, responsibilities, and patients to support staff as needed
• Supervise students and volunteers
• Represent the Physical Therapy Department to family, visitors, and personnel, and attend care conferences
• Effectively communicate with department staff, company personnel, patients, families, and department head
• Secure equipment for patients and department supplies as needed

Requirements

• Successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
• Licensure as required by the State of Ohio
• Ability to exercise professional judgement and initiative
• Initiative and flexibility in the work environment
• Ability to react effectively to the needs of patients and their families
• Physical ability to bend, position, transfer and lift patients weighing from 80 pounds to over 300 pounds, without restriction, utilizing lifting devices

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
