This role involves providing physical therapy treatment to patients under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, ensuring quality care, proper documentation, and coordination with other disciplines. The assistant will contribute to treatment plan development and progression, playing a key role in patient recovery and quality of life within skilled nursing facilities.
Responsibilities
- Provide physical therapy treatments consistent with professional standards of the A.P.T.A. for the Physical Therapist Assistant
- Maintain quality documentation related to accuracy, continuity of care, and reimbursement guidelines
- Coordinate with other disciplines for effective total patient care
- Assure delivery of quality care
- Participate in the discharge planning process and provide patient and family instruction
- Maintain clinical expertise through continuing education
- Contribute to a team philosophy and promote it among staff
- Delegate work assignments, responsibilities, and patients to support staff as needed
- Supervise students and volunteers
- Represent the Physical Therapy Department to family, visitors, and personnel, and attend care conferences
- Effectively communicate with department staff, company personnel, patients, families, and department head
- Secure equipment for patients and department supplies as needed
Requirements
- Successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
- Licensure as required by the State of Ohio
- Ability to exercise professional judgement and initiative
- Initiative and flexibility in the work environment
- Ability to react effectively to the needs of patients and their families
- Physical ability to bend, position, transfer and lift patients weighing from 80 pounds to over 300 pounds, without restriction, utilizing lifting devices
Qualifications
- Successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
