This role involves assisting licensed physical therapists in providing rehabilitative services to homebound patients, focusing on implementing treatment plans and educating patients on proper exercise techniques.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in delivering exceptional care to homebound patients
- Assist in the implementation of treatment plans
- Conduct exercises with patients
- Educate patients on proper techniques for rehabilitation exercises
- Document patient progress
- Develop individualized treatment plans
- Instruct and assist patients in performing therapeutic exercises and activities
- Monitor patients during therapy sessions, providing guidance and support as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized therapy environment, ensuring that equipment is properly sanitized and maintained
- Communicate regularly with physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Assist in the implementation of discharge plans
Requirements
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of practice
- CPR certification
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Compassion and empathy for patients undergoing rehabilitation
- Physical stamina and dexterity necessary to assist patients with mobility and perform therapeutic activities
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
Nice to Have
- Prior experience working as a Physical Therapy Assistant
- Specialized training or certification in specific areas of physical therapy, such as orthopedics, pelvic health, neurology, or geriatrics
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Bilingual proficiency in English and another language commonly spoken by patients in the practice area
