Physical Therapy Assistant

About This Role

This role involves assisting licensed physical therapists in providing rehabilitative services to homebound patients, focusing on implementing treatment plans and educating patients on proper exercise techniques.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed physical therapists in delivering exceptional care to homebound patients
• Assist in the implementation of treatment plans
• Conduct exercises with patients
• Educate patients on proper techniques for rehabilitation exercises
• Document patient progress
• Develop individualized treatment plans
• Instruct and assist patients in performing therapeutic exercises and activities
• Monitor patients during therapy sessions, providing guidance and support as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized therapy environment, ensuring that equipment is properly sanitized and maintained
• Communicate regularly with physical therapists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and adjust treatment plans as needed
• Assist in the implementation of discharge plans

Requirements

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of practice
• CPR certification
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Compassion and empathy for patients undergoing rehabilitation
• Physical stamina and dexterity necessary to assist patients with mobility and perform therapeutic activities

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program

Nice to Have

• Prior experience working as a Physical Therapy Assistant
• Specialized training or certification in specific areas of physical therapy, such as orthopedics, pelvic health, neurology, or geriatrics
• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Bilingual proficiency in English and another language commonly spoken by patients in the practice area
