About This Role

This Physical Therapist position involves independently preparing and revising treatment plans for patients, utilizing various physical therapy modalities, and providing care appropriate for adult and geriatric patients. The role requires making autonomous clinical decisions in a Direct Access environment.

Responsibilities

  • Independently prepare a treatment plan for each patient based on evaluation and interpretation of information from physician's referral and clinical record
  • Consult with higher grade therapist for assistance in treatment plan development if unfamiliar with referring diagnosis
  • Utilize the full range of physical therapy modalities in which training has been received
  • Consider physical and mental conditions, energy output, and psychological stimulus in patient evaluation
  • Use various standard and non-standard techniques such as manual muscle testing, range of motion measurements, peripheral vascular testing, sensory testing, nerve conduction velocities, and mobility testing
  • Independently revise and adapt treatment plans as patients progress or fail to respond
  • Provide continued re-evaluation of patients' performance with appropriate modifications to treatment
  • Provide physical therapy care appropriate to the cognitive, emotional, and chronological maturation needs of adult and/or geriatric patients

Requirements

  • United States Citizenship
  • Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) accredited college or university
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from a CAPTE accredited college or university. Foreign graduates must have a full unrestricted and current license to practice physical therapy in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Entry-level (for GS-11); 1 year experience equivalent to GS-11 (for GS-12); 2-3 years of clinical experience, ideally in pain management or musculoskeletal rehabilitation (preferred)

Nice to Have

  • 2-3 years of clinical experience as a Physical Therapist, ideally with direct exposure to pain management or musculoskeletal rehabilitation
  • Experience in outpatient or interdisciplinary pain programs
