About This Role

Assume clinical responsibility for direct patient care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, following state-specific laws and the defined treatment plan. Instruct patients and caregivers, observe and report patient responses, and participate in developing treatment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and aid patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait training, functional, ADL, transfer, safety, and prosthetic training following the plan of care.
  • Observe, record, and report to the supervising PT, nurse, and/or physician the patient's response to treatment and changes in the patient's condition.
  • Instruct patient, family, caregiver, and other members of the health care team in areas of therapy to assist the patient.
  • Visit patients according to the Plan of Treatment and complete a daily note for each visit.
  • Participate in developing the Plan of Treatment as needed with communication with the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Adhere to Therapy Standards of Practice in the provision of services to all patients.
  • Report to the Physical Therapist information relating to the patient’s progress, complication, and/or response to treatment.
  • Assist Physical Therapist in performing procedures, tests, and complex treatment for evaluation and treatment of patients.

Requirements

  • Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Washington
  • Ability to take direction from registered therapists and other team members
  • Ability to work independently with periodic support and direction
