The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) helps patients achieve discharge goals by enhancing mobility and daily living activities, ensuring they reach their highest level of function. This role prioritizes compassionate treatment to improve overall quality of life, collaborating with Physical Therapists and other healthcare disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Treat patients during routine home visits using therapeutic interventions for physical or developmental dysfunction.
- Improve safety in the home and reduce hospitalizations.
- Educate patients and caregivers on diagnoses, treatments, resources, and necessary equipment.
- Follow established comprehensive rehabilitation programs.
- Coordinate efforts towards discharge goals established by the Physical Therapist.
- Educate and instruct on home programs and preventive measures.
- Document all care delivery for routine visits as required.
- Communicate with the primary physical therapist regarding patient status changes or concerns.
- Communicate with patient, family, physician, and other healthcare providers regarding patient care.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Physical Therapy
- Certificate Physical Therapy Assistant
- Detailed knowledge of physical therapy
- Basic computer skills
- Basic understanding of specific setting rules and regulations
- BLS Required at time of Hire
