About This Role

This Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) role involves implementing treatment plans for pediatric patients with various disabilities, aiming to improve their physical, neurological, cognitive, and social-emotional functioning. The position requires collaborating with physicians, educating caregivers, and documenting patient care in an electronic medical record system.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality care and meet patient/family needs by performing evaluations, interpreting assessments, developing goals, and creating/implementing physical therapy treatment plans with physicians.
  • Assist pediatric patients in developing or regaining physical, neurological, cognitive, and/or social/emotional functioning by implementing skilled interventions.
  • Participate in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to carry over therapeutic activities into a child's daily routine.
  • Coordinate with referral partners to provide services for children in accordance with physician orders.
  • Assure continuation of therapeutic plans post-discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
  • Document patient care services and care coordination in an intuitive electronic medical record system.
  • Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

  • Texas State PTA License
  • Current CPR certification

Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience preferred
